The Department of Agricultural & Plantation Engineering offers certificate in Animal Husbandry & Aquaculture for those who are employed in the relevant industries and those who wish to enter a particular industry. The programme may also appeal to school leavers who intend  to pursue their career in Animal husbandry & Aquaculture with entry qualifications of GCE (Ordinary Level) with at least six passes. The certificate programme offers only in Puttalam study center as it has a great potential of lagoons and water resources for fish and prawn farming along with animal husbandry. The content of course  covers  course work assignments and practical sessions in addition to normal academic acitivities. The minimum duration of the certificate programme is one year and media of instructions are Sinhala and Tamil.
