Postgraduate Diploma and Master of Technology in Construction Management
Postgraduate Studies at The Department of Civil Engineering The Open University differs from other conventional Universities, in the way the knowledge is imparted to the student. The technique adopted is known as distance-teaching method. This method ideally allows a student to learn at his own pace at a chosen venue. The main aim of the Civil Engineering Department in conducting this postgraduate programme is to give further Engineering Management education to Engineers employed in the construction industry who had gained substantial practical experience.
Postgraduate Programme in Construction Management is conducted in two stages. These are the Post Graduate Diploma in Construction Management and the Master of Technology in Construction Management.
1. Course work based study leading to Postgraduate Diploma in Technology (Construction Management). 2. Research based study leading to the Degree of Master of Technology (Construction Management). To be eligible for enrolment, you should have completed prior mentioned Post Graduate Diploma in Construction Management.

You can obtain your application forms from our main campus at Nawala or any regional centre. After initial screening of applications, the successful applicants are invited for an interview. Here, their experience and qualifications are appraised and selected for registration.
You shall need to complete Twelve courses amounting to two credits, to be successful in the PG Diploma (Refer list of PG Courses). You will be given the package of study material at the enrolment. For the degree of Master of Technology, the requirements are the successful research and dissertation after fulfilling the requirements for the PG Diploma. Our Academically & Professionally qualified Construction Management staff and competent professionals from outside the University are available to assist you in all academic & practical matters.
Method of Evaluation for Courses For each course in the postgraduate programme that you select to study in a year, we shall continuously evaluate you through Assignments and Assessment Tests. Based on the weighted mark you obtain for these exercises, you shall be granted eligibility to sit for the final examination for that particular subject.
Through the Final Examination you can pass the subject and obtain a grade based on your performance.
