Criteria for Award of Classes - B Tech (Eng.) and BIS

BTech (Eng.) Degree

A candidate who has satisfied the conditions for the award of the Degree of Bachelor of Technology (Engineering)  will be allotted Grade Points Values (GPV) in respect of the courses at levels 5 and 6 with higher grades, equivalent to a total of 90 credits, that will include all compulsory courses at levels 5 and 6, if applicable. In situations where 90 credits cannot be obtained exactly, the nearest higher value to 90 credits shall be taken.  

The Grade Point Average (GPA) shall be computed as follows:

GPV equation

A candidate will be awarded the Degree of Bachelor of Technology (Engineering) according to the GPA  obtained as follows:

GPA Class
3.00 > GPA  > 2.00 Pass
3.30 > GPA  > 3.00 Second Class Honours (Lower Division)
3.70 > GPA  > 3.30 Second Class Honours (Upper Division)
GPA  > 3.70 First Class Honours

If the credits gained in any category exceed the maximum limit, only such maxima  will be used in computing the GPA for the award of the classes.

BIS Degree

A candidate who has satisfied the conditions for the award of the Degree of Bachelor of Industrial Studies  will be allotted Grade Points Values (GPV) in respect of the courses at levels 5 and 6 with higher grades, equivalent to a total of 72 credits, that shall include all compulsory courses at levels 5 and 6, if applicable. In situations where 72 credits cannot be obtained exactly, the nearest higher value to 72 credits shall be taken.

Calculation of GPA and the award of classes is similar to that of BTech (Engineering) Degree.
