The Advanced Certificate in Technology Programme is a programme introduced about six years ago. This qualification is expected to open an avenue for entry-level technical grades within the engineering profession.

Advanced Certificate in Technology will be with a specialisation in one of the following areas:

Advanced Certificate in Mechanical Engineering
Advanced Certificate in Mechatronics Engineering

Programme Duration: 2 years
Medium of Instruction: English
**Candidates who have not qualified in GCE(A/L) mathematics stream should spend a minimum of one additional year at Foundation Level until they reach the standard of the GCE(A/L) mathematics stream. Courses at levels 1 and 2 are offered in Sinhala, Tamil and English.
The department expects a student who has been awarded the Advanced Certificate in Technology to be:
                                Able to appreciate the existence and significance of well-known principles in engineering technology and self-motivated and capable of further advancement.
The courses selected for the award of the Advanced Certificate in Technology shall be so as to meet the minimum requirements in each category as shown below.
