The short course in Computerized Accounting Package aims to introduce the key concepts of and practical use in Accounting. This programme is limited to 10 students on first-come-first- serve basis

The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a widely used instrument in assessing the environmental effects of development projects or when environmental policies are formulated to be implemented. The purpose of EIA is to ensure the protection and conservation of the environment and natural resources including human health aspects against uncontrolled development.

EIA is a powerful tool for informed decision-making. It contributes to more environmentally sensitive decisions and the integration of environmental and social considerations in development planning. It also contributes to the transparency of the decision-making process during the development, implementation, monitoring and follow-up stages of a development project. EIA should be performed for new developments or projects and for expansions or renovations of existing establishments according to the law of Sri Lanka. A certificate of participation will be awarded on the successful completion of the short course.

The short course in Human Resource Management (HRM) aims to introduce the key concepts and theories in HRM while comparing and contrasting them with the ‘actual’ HR policies and practices as carried out by HR practitioners in local organizations.

This short course is mainly designed to provide an in-depth knowledge to those who are learning ICT for their G.C.E. (A/L). Highly recommended for those who have done their G.C.E. O/L and awaiting results

The Short Course in Marketing Management aims to introduce the key concepts and theories in marketing while comparing and contrasting them with the real marketing practices carried out by marketing professionals in organizations.

The Faculty of Education of the Open University of Sri Lanka, in partnership with the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) has developed a Short Course to support teachers who are teaching in Multi-grade classrooms in Sri Lankan schools.

The Department of Computer Science conducts the Certificate in Professional Computer Applications (CPCA) that would enhance the knowledge and skills of the students in Computer Applications.

This course is designed to give the knowledge and skills required to build creative, interactive, and imaginative web sites. The course will attempt to balance technical skills with artistic skills to create web pages that are conceptually interesting, easily navigable, visually pleasing and functional.

Joomla and Wordpress which are the most popular PHP CMS today, provide great management of website with less effort. Using CMS (Content Management System) one can manage the whole website through an administrator panel. First sessions in this course are allocated to build up your knowledge of HTML, CSS, Java Script, PHP, Mysql, Apache web server to equip you to work with CMS.

10 Days Saturdays 8.30am - 4.30pm

This spoken Tamil course aims to introduce the basics of spoken Tamil. The interesting activity-based lessons are specifically designed to improve the speaking ability of students with activities focusing on practical day-to-day speaking situations.

This programme will train students at basic levels in the fast-developing tourism and hotel industry. It is suitable for schools leavers who are interested in a career in tourism and hotel industry, and others who are already employed in the industry.

Inclusive Education is about the education of all children in regular schools. The aim of inclusive education is to build an inclusive society which can nurture, develop and use the skills, talents and strengths of all its members and also increase its collective resources. Further, inclusive education emphasises the learners' rights and needs, and the importance of an education free from discrimination and segregation. Having considered the importance of inclusive classroom set up, the Ministry of Education accepted in principle, the proposal submitted by the unit of 'Education for All' to transform the regular classrooms into inclusive classrooms. Therefore, there will be a high demand for further education in the field of Inclusive Education (IE), particularly for short term courses. However, the available opportunities for learning inclusive education are very limited in the country. Therefore, the Department of Special Needs Education has decided to offer a short course on 'Inclusive Education'.
