Applications are called for Level 5 and Level 6 of the B.Ed (Nat.Sc) Degree Programme. Bachelor of Education (Natural Sciences) Programme is a four academic year programme especially planned for Science/Mathematics teachers. The Faculty of Education conducts the level 5 and level 6 of the programme. The applicants should posses the following qualifications to register for levels 5 and 6 of the programme.

Admission to Level 5
Students will be eligible to register for courses at Level 5 of the B.Ed. (Nat.Sc.) Degree Programme on the acquisition of;
      • Eligibility in all courses (72 credits) at Levels 3, and 4 (a maximum of 6 credits could be earned from Level 5 of the B.Sc. Degree Programme to complete requirements at level 4)
      • and
      • Passes in courses equal to 45 credits at Levels 3, 4 and 5 (a maximum of 6 credits could be earned from Level 5 of the B.Sc. Degree Programme to complete requirements at level 4)
      • or
      • B.Sc Degree from a recognized University.


Admission to Level 6
Students will be eligible to register for courses at Level 6 of the B.Ed. (Nat.Sc.) Degree Programme on the acquisition of;
      • Eligibility in all courses (72 credits) at Levels 3, and 4 (a maximum of 6 credits could be earned from Level 5 of the B.Sc. Degree Programme to complete requirements at level4)
      • and
      • Passes in courses equal to 54 credits at Levels 3 and 4 (a maximum of 6 credits could be earned from Level 5 of the B.Sc. Degree Programme to complete requirements at level4)
      • and
      • Eligibility in all courses (36 credits) at Level 5 (B.Ed.)
      • or
      • Exemption in all courses (36 credits) at Level 5 (B.Ed.)
A student who registers for the Degree of Bachelor of Education Programme must register for a minimum 6 credit per academic year. The maximum a student can register for in one academic year is 36 credits.
A student may not register for a course at a particular level unless a specified number of credits or eligibility has been obtained at the preceding level or is exempted from the requirement of obtaining the credits by virtue of other qualifications.

Note:
Students who have registered for Level 5/6 of the B.Ed. (Nat. Sc.) Degree Programme, are required to obtain a minimum of RE grades for those courses for which they have obtained eligibility only, at Levels 3 and 4 (a maximum of 6 credits could be earned from Level 5 of the B.Sc. Degree Programme to complete requirements at level 4) in order to qualify for the final award.

EXEMPTIONS
Candidates may be exempted from the requirement of obtaining credits in certain courses by virtue of other qualifications. General qualifications required to claim exemptions from the Levels 3, 4 and 5 of the B.Ed. programme, are given in Appendix. Please refer to Nat. Sc. Faculty Prospectus, for full details regarding the exemptions from Level 3 / Level 4. Exemptions should normally be claimed during registration. The maximum number of credits a student can claim exemption from the B.Ed.(Nat. Sc.) programme, is 72. A student granted an exemption from a particular course of study would be deemed to have obtained a final mark of 40 and a C grade in that particular course, irrespective of whatever mark he/she may have received at an equivalent course/examination.
