The course is designed for students who need the Korean language for general, practical or social purposes. Specially designed to facilitate language learning in a step-by-step format in a conducive learning environment, this course is ideal for complete beginners as well as those who wish to enhance their basic knowledge and understanding of the Korean language.
The course will be offered at two levels:
- Basic Level
- Intermediate Level
Regular face-to-face sessions will be conducted by the Department of Language Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the OUSL, Nawala, Nugegoda on Thursday (Basic Level) and Fridays (Intermediate Level) from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon OR on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon (Basic Level) and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Intermediate Level)
Printed texts and audio material will be provided.
Programme Content – (Basic Level)
Introduction to Hangeul – learning the Korean Alphabet.
Hangeul I - The basic six vowels and the basic five consonants.
Hangeul II - Four combined vowels and four consonants.
Hangeul III - Four vowel combinations and five aspirated consonants.
Hangeul IV - Seven vowel combinations and five tensed consonants.
