The program develops technical management skills by combining qualitative approaches and quantitative techniques in a balanced curriculum, which strengthens engineering credentials and develops managerial competence. The aim of the program is to prepare today's engineers to become tomorrow's managers, entrepreneurs and leaders in the industry.

The programme has been designed to include many courses not covered in a conventional undergraduate engineering program but which are considered as important for engineering managers in performing their duties effectively and efficiently. The students are expected to follow compulsory courses on Operational research, Business organisation and management, Industrial economics and accounting, Quality and reliability engineering, Production planning and materials management, Human resource management under the postgraduate diploma program in Industrial Engineering.
