KandyKandy was the last capital of the ancient kings' era of Sri Lanka. It is the capital of the Central Province. Kandy Regional Centre is inPolgolla, 11 km away from Kandy city. There are many historical and archaeological places in close to Kandy city. We proudly express that one of our Regional Centre is located such that area.Kandy Regional Centre(KRC) of the OUSL was established in 1982 to cater to the higher educational needs of the people in the Central Province. The KRC conducts study programmes leading to Certificates, Diplomas, Degrees and Post-graduate Diplomas in the fields of Engineering Technology, Natural Sciences, Education and Social Sciences.

The KRC has extensively contributed towards the professional development of the graduate teachers through the Post-Graduate Diploma in education programme. During the last two decades, the centre has turned out many lawyers/legal graduates for the country. In the same way, the Faculties of Natural Sciences and Engineering Technology have added a considerable number of Science and Engineering graduates to the national productivity of the country during the last two decades. Ever demanding General English programme has uplifted the knowledge of English among the community in the region.Among recently introduced programmes, BMS and B.A. in Social Sciencesare being popularized rapidly among youth in the region.In addition to the above achievements, I am proud to state, that the KRC with its available physical and human resources functions efficiently to quench the higher educational thirst of the adult community of all age groups in the province while supporting and cooperating with other study and teaching centres which come under the purview of Kandy administrative cluster located in Kegalle, Hatton, BandarawelaandMatale.
