The MA in TESL consists of course work and a dissertation to be completed within a minimum of two years, not necessarily consecutive. The course work comprises Core Courses, Optional courses and Continuing Education courses as follows:

Teaching Grammar and the Four Skills

Curriculum and Materials Design

Optional Courses:

ELM1103 (ELP 1103 / LSP2103)    -   3 credit units
Technology in ELT
OR

ELM1104 (ELP1104 / LSP2104)    -    3 credit units
Management in ELT

Teacher Development and Supervision

Provision of Optional courses will depend on the availability of staff.

Continuing Education Courses:

Research Methods and Design

Research Communication

ELM2601 (ELP1601 / LSP2601)    -   18 credit units      Dissertation     

Those who successfully complete the Core courses AND 01 (One) Optional course AND BOTH Continuing Education courses, will be able to go on to the next stage of the programme, i.e. a research dissertation not exceeding 15,000 words.
