B.Sc. Degree Programme (level 3,4 & 5)
The minimum period required for the (six credit) Bachelor of Science degree programme is three academic years. Courses are offered at Levels 3,4 and 5. Applications are called in February/March.
Admission Requirements
Admission to Level 3 (equivalent to the first year of the B.Sc. degree programme of a conventional University):
Students will be eligible to register for courses at Level 3 of the Bachelor of Science Degree Programme by obtaining:
a minimum of 3 credits in approved science disciplines at the Foundation Levels 1 & 2. These equivalent qualifications include three passes at the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) Examination in approved science subjects such as Botany, Zoology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, Combined Mathematics, Higher Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Agriculture
OR
by obtaining a minimum of 3 credits in approved science disciplines at the Foundation Levels 1 & 2. OR by obtaining any other equivalent qualifications.
Admission to Level 4 (equivalent to the second year of the B.Sc. degree programme of a conventional University):
Students will be eligible to register for courses at Level 4 of the Bachelor of Science Degree Programme by obtaining:
exemption/pass/eligibility/concurrent registration of Level 3 courses amounting to 2 credits in basic science courses and compulsory courses AND
exemption/pass/eligibility in English (LSE 1303) at the Foundation Level 1 AND
exemption/pass/eligibility in Mathematics for Chemistry& Biology (PSE 3117) at Level 3 in the Continuing Education Programme.
Admission to Level 5 & 6 (equivalent to the third year of the B.Sc. degree programme of a conventional University):
Student will be eligible to register for courses at Level 5 6 of the Bachelor of Science Degree Programme after offering Level 4 courses amounting to 1 2/3 credits in any two disciplines of the students' choice (i.e. 2 x 5/6 credits in two chosen disciplines.).
Medium of instructions
The medium of instruction at Level 3 would be in Sinhala / Tamil / English. The medium of instruction at Levels 4, 5 & 6 would be only in English.
