About the Programme

The Foundation Courses constitute courses offered at Levels 1 and 2, for those not having three G.C.E. (Advanced Level) passes or equivalent qualifications necessary for registration for the degree/diploma/advanced certificate programmes at Level 3.

Aims and Objectives

These courses are suited for unqualified or partly qualified school leavers, employed persons and adults, who wish to come back into the academic mainstream and obtain tertiary educational qualifications. Courses are of an academic standing equivalent to that of the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination. Passes in Foundation Courses are accepted by the Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) in lieu of G.C.E. (A/L) passes required for admission to OUSL programmes such as Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Nursing, Advanced Certificate in Laboratory Technology, Bachelor of Law, Bachelor of Arts, Diploma in Technology & Diploma in Management.

Courses

Particulars of Foundation Courses offered by the Department of Chemistry are given below. Courses are offered at Levels 1 and 2. The programme is so planned that Level 1 Science courses will commence at the beginning of the academic year while Level 2 Science courses will begin about 4 - 5 months later.
