Youth is a dynamic group of population that can contribute largely to the socio-political and economic development in the country and also globally. Youth issues must be addressed adequately to ensure and sustain this positive and dynamic contribution.

Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development is in the in the process of formulating a National Youth Policy for Sri Lanka this year. A much needed policy for a country that has experience in years of youth uprisings and many other youth related issues. The ministry is taking this effort forward in partnership with the Department of Social Studies of the Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) and the National Youth Service Council (NYSC). The Open University of Sri Lanka provides the technical and structural guidance while the National Youth Service Council will organized the public consultation process at the district level to enhance youth participation.
