| The Regional Educational Services of the Open University provide services required by the five faculties of the Open University, to conduct their academic programmes. There are eight Regional Centres and nineteen Study Centres spread throughout the country. This article is about Anuradhapura regional centre.

Anuradhapura is the first kingdom in Sri Lanka. Marvelous creations of our ancient kings are still remains here. Hundred of devotees not only across the country but also worldwide visit the city daily because of its glory. Anuradhapura Regional Centre is within the city limit at Jayanthi Mawatha. Anuradhapura Study Centre was established in 1987 in a small building at current premises. Although it was a study centre, it catered to the higher educational needs of employees as well as school leavers. It was the only place in such a rural areas which provided educational needs of rural students. Having understood the growing needs of local people the Anuradhapura study centre was upgraded to a Regional Centre in 2008. From then 02 Regional Officers and one Acting Assistant Director had served up to 2014 for in the Anuradhapura Regional Centre. |
