Mission

“Achieving excellence in providing life–long learning opportunities in engineering and technology for all to meet industrial and social needs through open and distance learning, and support research and scholarship by efficient and sustainable use of resources.”

Faculty of Engineering Technology offers a variety of study programmes leading to the awards of Certificates, Advanced Certificates, Higher Diplomas, Honors Bachelor Degrees, and Postgraduate Diplomas and Degrees encompassing a many engineering and industrial specializations as needed by the industry in line with the Sri Lanka Qualifications Frame Work. Major honors degrees awarded by the Faculty are the Bachelor of Technology (Engineering), Bachelor of Industrial Studies, and Bachelor of Software Engineering.

In addition to the taught study programmes the Faculty through its well equipped academic departments facilitates research leading to the awards of MPhil and PhD degrees.

Special Notice

Postponement of CAT 1 and Resumption of Academic Activities- Faculty of Engineering Technology
 
Although the Faculty had planned to conduct CAT 1 from 22nd May, due to the prevailing situation in the country it will not commence on this day. However, the moment the situation gets better the Faculty may commence CAT 1 with a very short notice. Please keep looking up the Faculty webpage regularly for Notices and also keep yourself engaged in studies. In the meantime the Faculty will commence non face-to-face activities (online day schools, design classes, home computer projects etc.) from 15th May (Saturday) onwards.

Special Notice

Postponement of Face-to-Face activities of the Faculty of Engineering Technology until further notice

Please be informed that considering the prevailing pandemic situation in the country,  all face-to-face activities (laboratory practical classes and design classes etc.) scheduled to be held during the period from 27th April are postponed until further notice. However, the moment the situation gets better the Faculty will decide to resume face-to-face activities with a very short notice.  So keep looking up the Faculty webpage regularly. A revised activity schedule will be informed in due course for the conduct of online academic activities.

Updated Special Notice
Please be informed that the Faculty of Engineering Technology will commence Face to Face Activities (Lab practicals and Design Classes etc.) from 17th April  as per the attached activity schedule. The grouping of students will be informed through the MyOUSL in due course under each course where applicable. The Temporary Residential Facility (TRF) will be available for students in a limited manner giving priority to the students travelling from remote areas from  20th April. The students are expected to reserve the TRF by contacting the course coordinators. Only those who make reservations and get their reservations confirmed are allowed entry to the TRF. The details in this regard will be notified in due course.
