I am A.V. Pramuditha Madhavi, a senior Lecturer in Nursing and the former Head of the Department of Nursing. I am currently reading my PhD in Health in Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand.

I began my career as a registered nurse after I obtained my basic nursing diploma from the College of Nursing Galle. I completed my Midwifery qualification and owned the practice license as a Registered Midwife too. A significant milestone in my career was leaving the clinical nursing arena to join with nursing academia in 2004 as a nursing tutor in College of Nursing Galle after obtaining a diploma in Teaching and Supervision offered by the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka.

One of my eminent memories in academic life was joining to the Open University of Sri Lanka as a probationary lecturer in 2006. I became a senior lecturer after completing the Master of Nursing (fulltime-Thesis Stream) Degree in Canada. As a lecturer having 13 years- experience, my philosophy is creating teaching-learning partnership with my students where teaching is meaningful, purposeful, and valuable for both the student and the teacher. Through my research interest in Gerontological Nursing, I continue to explore ways to improve quality of life and to promote healthy aging for older Sri Lankans.
